Aden, NewsYemen:

The Houthi militia launched electronic attacks targeting the accounts of journalists and anti-it activists on social media, and as a result it managed to hack it, taking advantage of its control over the telecommunications sector in the country.

A number of journalists and activists reported that their Twitter accounts were hacked by the Houthi militia, which began posting tweets to mislead public opinion, especially in the provinces experiencing a military escalation.

They pointed out that all the hacked accounts were linked to local phone numbers confiscated by the militia controlling the telecommunications sector.

Activists expressed their fear that the militia would use their confiscated cell phone numbers to send text messages (sms) to their contacts to broadcast rumors and lies about the course of the battles, warning against dealing with them.

They called on their fellow journalists and activists to take the necessary safety measures to prevent hacking attacks similar to their accounts that the Iranian-backed militia might carry out.
