Aden, NewsYemen:

Leaders and activists in the Islah Party, the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, called on the international community to adopt an agreement to stop the Houthi attack on Marib, similar to the Stockholm Agreement on Hodeidah, western Yemen.

A statement, carrying the signatures of high-ranking Brotherhood leaders, including Ansaf Mayo, head of the Islah party branch in Aden Governorate, called on the international community in general and the United Kingdom, which oversees the Yemen file in the Security Council, to increase pressure on the Houthis to end their attacks on Marib and take steps towards a peace process that includes national partnership Real.

The text of the statement read: In 2018, the UN Security Council, the international envoy Griffiths and the international community exerted coordinated diplomatic pressure on the Yemeni government, thus freezing the battle for Hodeidah.

He added: We would like to see urgently similar efforts to prevent Houthi attempts to seize Marib and stop the launch of ballistic missiles on civilians. Saving Marib is the only way to protect the millions of displaced, and to ensure a path to a political settlement.

The statement called on the United Nations to exert serious pressure to confront the Houthi violence and attacks that once again endanger the lives and future of millions of displaced Yemenis.

The Brotherhood said that the continuation of the Houthi attacks on Marib, or the seizure of it, would definitely eliminate any chances for peace and create a new reality as the Houthi group aims to rule Yemen on its own.
