Al-Hodeidah, NewsYemen:

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority continues its humanitarian efforts to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the West Coast, where the total number of beneficiaries of medical care has reached more than 400,000 people.

The sick cases that the authority provided with curative and preventive services for children reached nearly 60 thousand cases, the number of women 30 thousand cases, and the number of elderly exceeded 15 thousand cases.

The Emirates Red Crescent in the West Coast provided 3 mobile medical clinics providing health care along the coast and the Thami Plain, and its teams reached 130 remote villages.

Since its launch in August of 2018, the clinics have recovered hundreds of patients from poor families who live in remote areas and villages, and it is difficult for them to reach city centers for treatment due to the dangers of the road and the lack of transportation, not to mention the exorbitant transportation costs that the citizen cannot afford.

It also travels weekly in the four IDP camps, "Al-Alili, Al-Waara and Al-Jahaibir" in Al-Khawkha district, Al-Hima camp in Al-Tuhaita district, and "Gilfqa" camp in Al-Durayhimi district, which includes more than 3,000 displaced families.

And last week, the clinics provided medical services to more than 6 thousand cases of sickness with free treatment, and they are children, pregnant women and the elderly, in Al-Tuhaita, Beit Al-Faqih, Al-Khawkha, Al-Wazi’ia, Mawza and Dhu Bab.

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority launched four large-scale campaigns to combat the epidemic of dengue fever and other fevers such as cholera, malaria and acute watery diarrhea, in response to a distress call from the competent authorities and the people to combat the epidemics that have re-spread.

In the efforts to confront the Corona epidemic, awareness campaigns included 8 directorates on the West Coast and the establishment of two laboratories to produce protective masks from the spread of the virus in the coastal cities of Mocha and Al-Khawkha.

The preventive, awareness and treatment campaigns included distributing quantities of drugs and intravenous solutions needed for hospitals in district centers and 10 health facilities in affected areas to be able to receive infected cases and provide free services to them.

The Crescent also organized 4 cleaning campaigns and foggy workshops in the cities of Mocha, Al-Khokha and Al-Tuhaita to combat the mosquitoes that transmit the disease, two campaigns in Dhu Bab district and a campaign in Mawza.

The Director of the Medical Department at the Crescent Office in the West Coast, Dr. Ali Mori, indicated that the clinics are continuing to provide their free medical services without delay in all regions and under any circumstances, and that joining forces in order to raise the health situation on the coast is the responsibility of everyone, and there must be concerted efforts to achieve a comprehensive health environment.

In addition, the Director General of the Health Office in Al Hudaydah Governorate, Dr. Ali Al-Ahdal, praised the efforts of the Emirates Red Crescent in all health and service aspects, noting that had it not been for his efforts, the situation would have worsened, and that mobile clinics had achieved great success in caring for the people of remote areas and camps for the displaced.

Al-Ahdal praised the role of the Crescent Authority in supporting the centers with medical needs and supplies and in rehabilitating the infrastructure, pointing out that the UAE is always the first in supporting Yemen and the coastal regions will remain the best witness to its white hands.
