Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Muhammad al-Muhaimid, a Yemeni expert in communications and information technology, said that from 2014 to 2018, the Houthi militia’s revenues from the telecommunications sector amounted to 3 billion and 122 million dollars.

He explained that the Houthi militia’s revenues from the telecommunications sector represented one billion and 82 million dollars under tax and zakat, two billion and 39 million dollars and 723 thousand dollars in the telecommunications sector for the same period.

And he considered that keeping communications and the Internet in the hands of the Houthi militia is a "great interest for them," and a greater loss for legitimacy and the Yemeni people at the same time.

Al-Muhaimid noted that the Houthis took advantage of their control over the telecommunications sector in terms of security and military.
