Saudi Arabia calls on the international community to take urgent action to avert the "SAFER" disaster

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called on the international community to take the necessary steps to ensure the speedy treatment of the exhausted oil reservoir "Safer" before a serious disaster threatens the countries bordering the Red Sea, especially the Kingdom and Yemen.


This came in a statement issued by the Saudi Cabinet session on Tuesday evening, after its regular meeting via video communication headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.


According to the statement published by the Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet reviewed what was issued by the emergency meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs called for by the Kingdom, calling for urgent measures to avoid a potential environmental disaster due to the failure to maintain the oil tanker "Safer" anchored in front of Ras Issa oil port. In the Red Sea, in western Yemen, five years ago, stressing the call to all Arab, regional and international countries to cooperate and take the necessary steps leading to addressing the situation, which poses a serious threat to all countries bordering the Red Sea, especially the Kingdom and Yemen.


The Saudi Council of Ministers praised the ability of the security services to overthrow a terrorist cell whose elements received military and field training, inside sites in the Revolutionary Guard in Iran, including in the methods and methods of making explosives, and seizing a quantity of concealed weapons and explosives, appreciating in this regard the efforts made by the Presidency of State Security and its employees of Unremitting efforts to pursue and trace the criminal elements that pose a threat to the country's security, capabilities, and social peace.


 The Council commended the ability of the Saudi security services and their response to criminal plots, and for everyone who seeks to harm the security and stability of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens and residents on its lands.


The Saudi Council of Ministers renewed the Kingdom’s demand that the international community take a firm stance towards Iran and deal seriously with its violations related to its nuclear program.


 He also affirmed the Kingdom's support for the positive initiatives calling for the creation of geographical areas free of nuclear weapons, and work with the international community to make the Middle East a zone free of these weapons.
