The Speaker meets the Chargé d'Affairs of the British Embassy to discuss peace efforts in Yemen and the Riyadh Agreement

Within the framework of the efforts being made to bring peace to Yemen and the implementation of the recent Riyadh Agreement, the Speaker of Parliament Sheikh Sultan Al-Burakani met the Chargé d'Affairs of the British Embassy to Yemen, Simon Smart.

During the meeting, they discussed many military, economic and humanitarian issues and situations that the Yemeni people are going through as a result of the practices of the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen.

The Speaker of Parliament appreciated the British role in support of the Yemeni people, and the role of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in fulfilling the task of implementing the Riyadh Agreement and their keenness to make it successful.

He also indicated that the coming days will witness the start of the full implementation of the military and political aspect of the agreement, which will work to resolve the outstanding issues.


 For his part, the Chargé d'Affairs of the British Embassy affirmed his support for the legitimacy and the Yemeni people to achieve their unity, security and stability.

In addition to his support for the endeavors of the UN envoy Martin Griffiths to achieve a comprehensive political settlement to reach a permanent peace process.


 The two sides touched on the issue of the current "Safir Reservoir" oil, and the importance of pressuring the militia to avoid a potential environmental and economic disaster.
