Mocha, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The high wages of remittances to the areas under the control of the Houthi militia add to the burden on poor families in Mocha, as remittance wages amounted to 30 per cent of the amount.

Saeed Naji says that one of his sons studies in Sana'a, and he can barely save what he earns from his work at the sea to transfer the modest sum of money.

He adds that the high fees makes him in many months delay the transfer until he collects the costs of transferring it.

Naji describes this as tragic for poor families that can barely manage their daily expenses, calling for finding quick solutions to the problem that is burdening the shoulders of families with meager financial incomes.

For Raed Abdulhamid, who is displaced from Tuhami areas to Mocha, he finds it difficult to find the amount of the transfer for his son, a student at Ibb University.

He told Newsyemen that someone might be surprised by our complaints about the amount of the transfer, even though we were able to procure the basic amount, but the high and exaggerated wages represent a burden on poor and displaced families.

Abdulhamid puts a simple approach between his status as a displaced person and the complications left by the price hikes that commodities witness every time.

He said that his son got temporary work in a furniture center, but the meager income remains insufficient, and that may affect his educational attainment.

The wages of remittances amount to 30 percent of the amount to be sent to the areas under the militia’s authority.

Abdulhamid indicates that if he decides to send 50,000 riyals, he needs 15,000 as an amount for the transfer commission
