The largest medical edifice for motherhood and childhood .. The Houthi militia is reminiscent of Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Sana'a

The Houthi militia decided to change the name of the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Hospital, which was opened in Sana'a in 2012 with funding from the Zayed Charitable Foundation at a cost of more than 10 million US dollars - approved replacing the name of the hospital with the Palestine Maternity and Child Hospital.

The Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Sana'a is the largest medical edifice specialized in the field of motherhood and childhood in Yemen, and its establishment in Yemen represented a qualitative addition in improving the level and quality of health and medical services provided to the mothers and children, and it was the fruit of fraternal cooperation between the UAE and the Republic of Yemen.

The hospital consists of a number of departments specialized in providing medical examinations for mothers and children, as well as a nursery section with a capacity of twenty beds for childbirth, while the capacity of the hospital is an estimated 172 beds, in addition to being equipped with five operating rooms and an integrated team of doctors and nurses, with a strength of 52 doctors and nurses, as it was officially announced upon its opening in 2012.

The hospital, located in the Bani Al-Harith district, north of Al-Rawda district, consists of six floors built on an area of   about 7,500 square meters, and includes five multi-tasking operating theaters, outpatient clinics and emergency rooms, in addition to the laboratories that have been equipped with the latest equipment and technical and medical devices to serve a large segment of the citizens of the region and those coming from governorates adjacent to the capital, Sana'a.

 In conjunction with the Coronavirus Covid 19 pandemic, the Houthi militia in Sana'a allocated part of the Zayed Hospital building as a center for receiving and isolating cases of Corona Covid 19.

In July 2020, the Director General of Zayed Maternity and Childhood Hospital in the capital, Dr.Mohammed Jahaf, announced that all hospital departments will resume providing free medical services in the areas of obstetric emergencies, natural childbirth, cesarean sections, women's care and rest, safe aspiration, counseling, acute malnutrition, and childcare, in addition to the diphtheria department and outpatient clinics.

He indicated that all preventive precautions have been taken in the hospital and a separate building has been allocated for the Epidemiological Isolation Center to treat Corona cases, away from the main building for motherhood and childhood, and to provide medical services safely in accordance with internationally approved standards and standards.

 It is reported that the hospital services were provided to the public at nominal prices, before the 2014 Houthi militia coup.
