Aden, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

On Saturday morning, the tugboat “Socotra” of the Aden Refineries Company returned to the oil port in Aden, after being held for days in the Nashima oil port in Shabwa governorate, where it was to accomplish a navigational mission.

The tug of Socotra was in the port of Nashima after it was leased by the Yemeni Company for Petroleum and Mineral Investments (YICOM) to enter and take out the vessel (syra) that was loading crude oil, and it was targeted by the detonation of two marine mines, which resulted in damage to the tanker and the port.

A statement issued by the Aden Refinery stated that the Tug was supposed to return a few days ago, but during the execution of its mission to load the ship, the explosion occurred, indicating that the crew and the tugboat did not suffer any damage, and that because of this accident the return of the tug was delayed.

The refinery's statement did not mention the detention of the tug and its crew, but shipping sources told (NewsYemen) that the Brotherhood authorities who controlled the port had arrested all those present in the port at the time of the explosion, and opened an investigation with them before transferring them to another unknown place.

The refinery's statement, Aden, quoted the acting director, Engineer Saeed Muhammad, as saying that since the first minutes of the accident, the refinery management has been in contact with the tug staff and with all parties to ensure their return as soon as possible.
