Community contribution scandal

Recently, the militia considered imposing fees on all shop owners in order to repair the streets and sidewalks of the city.

This came after a widespread disapproval by citizens towards the dilapidated infrastructure.

Observers and activists considered that these efforts are nothing but a new chapter in corruption which it seeks to impose by the militia with the help of the local authority under its control.

The militia had inaugurated dozens of projects during the last period, but it did not implement them, in addition to confiscating millions of foreign aid.

Those endeavors that have not started yet were decided to impose them under the name of "community contribution", and the obvious question is where approximately two billion riyals per year go to the governorate’s revenues.

The eastern directorates, such as Al-Oudain, Hazm Al-Oudain, Al-Fara, and Muthaikhra, are witnessing an increase in poverty, a collapse in basic services, and the disappearance of oil derivatives and domestic gas.

In addition, the city of Al-Qaeda, Al-Nadera, Al-Qafr, Al-Oud, Hubish, Bani Awad and Al-Siyani suffer from the same problems, so that the revenues do not reflect anything on these areas.

The Houthi militia has taken from this province a source that takes all its capabilities to Sanaa under the pretext of supplementing the fronts and supporting the fighters, with the increase and encouragement of the black market that has exhausted the citizen and the farmers.

Families of martyrs and marching caravans

Millions of riyals are spent annually, according to supreme directives, in order to establish "religious feasts" for the state, Ghadeer Day, Ashura, Martyr's Day, and the Prophet's birthday.

Ibb governorate takes the lion’s share of these holidays and events, in which thousands of posters and slogans are raised, which come at the expense of hundreds of thousands of poor people, employees in the health sector, education, university, jobs, the security sector, prosecution offices and courts .. as it becomes an annual tradition for more plundering citizens, malls and shops, in conjunction with the holding of “cultural courses” for the Houthi movement, on which it focuses heavily.

The families of the so-called martyrs suffer from the absence of a breadwinner and the complete absence of the most basic rights, including the adoption of a monthly salary or aid for the victim's family.

Frequent assaults

The tasks of security agencies, tax and customs collections, collectors and collaborators overlapped, which led to violations and attacks on citizens that reached the point of murder.

Inmates of the Central Prison were assaulted about a month ago by firing tear gas and hitting with batons, after protesting against the prison administration's confiscation of their smartphones.

Many suicides occurred due to the continued suspension of salaries, the lack of household gas or its unfair distribution, and the looting of relief materials.

Activists and media figures from the same governorate also monitored flagrant violations of unarmed citizens, judges and lawyers, storming homes and attacks on women.

Attacks on ancient sports facilities have also taken place, and some of its employees, including Ahmed Al-Barid, captain of the national team and Ibb Football Association, have been arrested.

Criminal cases

At the beginning of April of this year, two young men were killed by an unknown gunman near one of the Houthi points in Al-Oudain District, and the perpetrator has not been identified until today.

Then, in May, two were thrown by a grenade, one of them was killed and another wounded in Mudhaikhra district, and the perpetrators are not known until today.

More than a month ago, 5 people were ambushed, killing all of them near Hubeish Junction, north of the city.

Since the beginning of January of this year 2020, media reports in Ibb governorate have reported nearly 100 cases, including attacks that have reached the point of murder, suicides, and injuries with recurrent bullets fired at weddings and some occasions.

This is apart from those who are killed on the fronts, badly for the party who fights with the legitimacy or the Houthi militia.
