Aden, NewsYemen:

The "Haq" Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms confirmed on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the involvement of the Islah Party, the local branch of the Brotherhood, in committing crimes against humanity, especially in the governorates of Taiz and Shabwa.

This came during a press conference held in Aden to publicize the report of the "Haq" organization regarding the involvement of the Yemeni Rally for Islah Party in committing crimes under international law and the accusations directed against its leaders for their association with terrorist organizations.

During the conference, the organization distributed copies of the report in both Arabic and English to the participants.

In addition Al-Khader Al-Maysari, President of Haq Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms, gave a comprehensive review of the content of the report and explained the steps for preparing it and the processes of collecting, monitoring and documenting the data and information it contained.

The participants called on the Presidency of the State, the government and the relevant official bodies to investigate the crimes of murder, assassination, kidnapping, torture and the destruction of public and private property and to hold accountable those involved in the crimes of murder, detention, kidnapping and torture.

They stressed the need to open official investigations to purge the state apparatus of all forms of partisan hegemony and the Muslim Brotherhood’s control over the army and security, and their exploitation of settling their accounts with other political forces and using them to support armed groups and terrorists, and the Yemeni government bears the consequences and responsibilities of neglecting this.

The participants called on local and foreign human rights organizations to intensify their efforts to condemn the crimes committed by the Islah militia and its allies from the terrorist groups in the liberated areas and to show solidarity with the victims who have fallen into these practices, to document them and to present their perpetrators to the local and international judicial authorities.

They also called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to interact with the crimes against humanity stated in the report and to present the perpetrators to international courts and provide reparation to the victims.

They held the Islah Party and its militias responsible for committing crimes against humanity, specifically the leaders of the 22nd Brigade, the Popular Mobilization Militias, Hasm Brigades in Taiz, the Governor of Shabwa, and the leaders and militias of the Islah Party in Shabwa and the rest of the south.
