The Chargé d'Affairs of Britain's mission to the United Nations, Jonathan Allen, said that his country that adopts the Yemeni file in the Security Council is considering using sanctions strategically, and is seeking to employ them to support the peace process.

In an interview with the Sana'a Center for Strategic Studies, Allen stated that the United Nations team of experts had recently developed a disturbing set of evidence about the Houthi official, Sultan Zaben, explaining that Security Council sanctions are an important tool in disrupting the actions of targeted individuals and holding them accountable.

Zaben, who is the director of the Criminal Investigation Department in Sanaa, was named in the report of the UN Panel of Experts on Yemen, as he heads a female intelligence network that follows the Houthis called "Zainabiyat", and participates in the suppression of women who oppose the militias, by various means, including sexual violence.

The British official indicated that his country plays a pioneering role in supporting the efforts of the United Nations and Security Council meetings to hold the actors accountable and stimulate international action, in addition to facilitating the meeting of the group of permanent members of the Security Council (P5) and countries with a pioneering historical voice on Yemen.
