Aden, NewsYemen:

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar - which is close to Hezbollah - reported that there had been negotiations between the Islah party, the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, over Marib.

The newspaper said, "Qatar played a role in stopping the escalation in Marib during the first half of this year, and returned as a mediator between the Houthis and the Brotherhood."

Al-Akhbar said, "The Qatari role continues in this regard, in light of expectations that Doha will reopen its embassy in Sanaa after Tehran."

It added that the negotiation has not yet reached the stage of agreement, and that everything that the two sides have reached "does not exceed the limits of stopping confrontations in the vicinity of the city, and that no party has advanced from its previous positions until the negotiations are over."
