Lahj, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Intelligence sources accused a Brotherhood leader holding a government position in Lahj governorate of transferring funds for establishing a military axis from Aden governorate to a Brotherhood military commander in Tur Al-Baha district, east of Al-Sabaiha.

The sources accused the leader of the Yemeni Islah Party, Dr.  Ahmed Ibrahim al-Shabiqi, who is currently serving as deputy governor of Lahj, a year ago, transferred three billion seven hundred million in batches from Aden governorate and handed them over to the commander of the Fourth Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Abu Bakr al-Jabbouli, taking advantage of his position and not being subject to inspection at security points.

Dr. Al-Shabiqi obtained his decision as a governing agent unilaterally a year ago, while dozens of decisions are still locked up in the office of the presidency, and Lahj is the second governorate after Shabwa that was led by Brotherhood figures since after the war of 1994, and according to the sources, it is the first in the south that was controlled by Brotherhood figures in various fields, it has followed the Brotherhood’s leadership in Taiz since 1994 until today.

The decision to appoint Dr. Al-Shabiqi as an agent for the governorate was issued as part of an early Brotherhood’s plan to "encircle" Aden after the decision to leave it as a result of the defeat of the Presidential Protection Brigade and the Subaihi Brigade, which the Brotherhood was preparing to control "Aden".

Al-Shabaiqi assumed two tasks: appointing the party to the governorate office, securing transfers between regions and transporting items that they could not transfer except with a permit, and was assigned the task of transferring funding to the Tur al-Baha axis by harnessing and exploiting his position as a government official.

The sources added that the Brotherhood leader in Lahj ensured monitoring the governor, submitting a daily report on his meetings and contacts, and monitoring what the Brotherhood classified as "deviations that would constitute a danger to the group's interests."

The Brotherhood qualifies Dr. Shabibi as one of the candidates to succeed the Turkish governor to lead the local authority in Lahj governorate.
