Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hassan Irloo, handed over his credentials, today, in Sanaa, as Iran's alleged ambassador to the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - and an actual military governor.

The Houthi militia in Sanaa organized a reception for the Iranian leader, on Wednesday, November 4, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Sanaa, amid tight security measures.

Houthi militants have patrolled widely around the region and the streets of the capital, Sanaa, while employees were prevented from entering the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, and Iranian leader Hassan Irloo met with Houthi leader Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the so-called Supreme Political Council.

Last October, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatib Zadeh announced the arrival of "Irloo" to Sanaa, and said that he was "an extraordinary and full-fledged ambassador," and the arrival of the Iranian leader to Sanaa sparked a wave of controversy and political speculation.

Earlier, an American official confirmed to "NewsYemen" the role of Omani intelligence in smuggling Hassan Irloo, the leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who was announced as an ambassador to Tehran after his arrival in Sanaa.

The official, who asked not to be named, said that Irloo arrived from Iran in the capital, Muscat, weeks before he was "smuggled" to Yemen with the help of Omani intelligence.

The UN envoy denied any connection to his effort to deliver the Iranian to Sanaa, and that he was not transported through any of his planes, and neither the American intelligence nor the Sultanate of Oman commented on the information confirming the transfer of the ambassador in a deal that the three parties recently participated in.
