Students and professors of Taiz University launched escalatory steps to denounce the inability of the military and security leaders to arrest the perpetrators, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the assassination attempt on the university president, Prof. Muhammad Al-Shuaibi, and the martyrdom of his companion, Muwaffaq Al-Shamiri.
The stand in which many activities were held, with the participation of hundreds of academic, administrative and student cadres, demanded the necessity of accountability and trial of the accused, and that the leaders of the local authority and security and military agencies carry out their moral and legal responsibilities to arrest the perpetrators until the moment and refer them to the judiciary for trial to obtain their deterrent punishment.
The stand also called on the higher leaders in the state to put an end to this chaos, which has reached its extent and serves the coup agenda in confusing the efforts of the resistance and the National Army to complete the liberation of the province.
The participants moved to the campus from the College of Education to the Square of the College of Administrative Sciences, carrying slogans denouncing the failure to prosecute the killers, and the repeated attacks on university employees and property continued, stressing the continuation of escalatory steps until the legitimate demands were met.
The pause statement reviewed the great role played by the University of Taiz in the normalization of life in the besieged city of Taiz through resisting the effects of war in the afflicted city and its success with the weapon of knowledge in defeating the weapon of ignorance thanks to the sincere and sincere will of its academic and administrative cadres led by Professor Al-Shaibi, President of the University, who almost paid with his life the price of his persistence To restore the university's role to push the wheel of life in the city.
In an attempt to assassinate him two years ago, he suffered a severe injury that he still suffers from today, and the death of his personal companion, despite the University Council’s decision to suspend studies after the local authority leadership pledged to arrest the rest of the perpetrators, to no avail.
The release of some of the perpetrators was a clear provocation to the university’s patience, which began to run out of green light to continue the repeated attacks on university employees, the most recent of which was the attack on Professor Ahmed al-Rabbasi, Vice President of the University in his office in the university’s branch in the city of al-Turbah, and other attacks that affected some of the university’s professors and the lands affiliated to it, according to the statement.
