Mobilization and tight security measures took place in the capital, Sanaa, Wednesday, November 25, 2020, due to the visit of the leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hassan Erlo, to the House of Representatives building, which is under the control of the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen - since September 2014.

Armored vehicles and military and security patrols were seen in the neighborhoods and roads leading to the House of Representatives headquarters in the Tahrir District in central Sanaa.

The Iranian leader accompanied many security formations wearing various outfits that imposed a security cordon on the headquarters of the House of Representatives and the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Public vehicles and taxis were prohibited from passing on the roads and streets through which the Iranian leader is supposed to cross.

The intensified security measures sparked the resentment and grief of residents of the neighborhoods adjacent to the parliament headquarters, and they saw such measures as a provocation to the feelings of the Yemenis.

A motorcycle driver commented that the guards of the heads of the republic were less than that of this ambassador, “until al-Mashat when he visited the parliament, he was accompanied by two cars,” referring to the Houthi leader and the head of the so-called Supreme Political Council, which is a new authority parallel to the powers of the President of the Republic.
