Great efforts lift Aden airport from the rubble of the terrorist attack

The Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdulsalam Saleh Hamed, announced, on Saturday, that Aden International Airport is ready to resume flights, starting tomorrow, Sunday, after restoring and repairing the severe damage caused by the terrorist attack on the airport last Wednesday.

This came in a statement made by the Minister of Transport, during a field visit he made this morning (Saturday) to Aden Airport, accompanied by the agent of Aden Governorate, Muhammad Nasr Shadhly.


The minister listened to an explanation from the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Captain Saleh Salim bin Nahid, and the Director General of Aden International Airport, Abdul Raqeeb Al-Omari, about the percentage of achievement in the work of repairing the damage resulting from the terrorist attack on Aden airport last Wednesday.


They confirmed that the completion rate in the restoration work reached 70% (as of Saturday noon) and that work is underway at a high rate to complete the repair of the damage, so that the airport is ready to resume flights by Sunday.


While the First Undersecretary of Aden Governorate, Muhammad Nasr Shadhly, praised the government's keenness and continuous follow-up to complete the work of restarting Aden airport and resuming flights, appreciating the efforts of the Saudi Program for the Reconstruction and Development of Yemen, as well as the employees, engineers, and technicians of the airport and the cleaning fund and all those who contributed to re-arranging and equipping the airport to resume flights to and from airport soon.

In turn, the Director General of Aden International Airport, Abdul Raqeeb Al-Omari, indicated that work has proceeded at a high pace at the airport, although the damage was severe and affected the arrival and departure halls, the Saffron hall, and others.
