Washington, NewsYemen:

On Tuesday, the United States officially announced the entry into force of the designation of the Houthis as a terrorist organization.

The United States has exempted multiple aid organizations, including the United Nations and the Red Cross, from sanctions related to the Houthis in Yemen, according to a notice posted on the US Treasury Department's website, today, Tuesday.

The notice stated that the exemption from the blacklisting of the Houthi group aims to allow relief groups to support humanitarian projects, building democracy, education and protecting the environment.

On Monday, January 11, the US State Department announced the classification of the Iranian Houthi militia in Yemen on its black list of terrorist groups.

Washington's decision came days before the end of President Donald Trump's term, and the decision will be implemented today, Tuesday, and it aims to strengthen deterrence against the harmful activities of the Iranian regime.

The US blacklist includes three Houthi leaders, their leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, Abdul-Khaliq Al-Houthi, and Abdullah Yahya Al-Hakim.
