Abyan, NewsYemen:

The local authorities in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, detained trucks belonging to Al-Wehda cement factory, and stipulated that the factory pay large financial fees in exchange for allowing locomotives to pass.

According to local sources, the authorities have been holding the factory's trucks since yesterday (Tuesday) at a vertical point in the city of Jaar, and refuse to allow them to pass.

Meanwhile, a source in Al-Wehda Cement Factory said that the local council in Abyan prevented the passage of trucks belonging to the factory, in a procedure he described as arbitrary.

The source accused the government authorities and the Governorate Cleaning and Improvement Fund of trying to impose fictional financial fees, as described, without any legal justification.

He pointed out that these, what he called, “illegal, abusive behavior” towards the factory was not the first, noting that it had occurred several times in the past.
