Aden, NewsYemen:

Mustafa Nasr, head of the Economic Media Center, stressed the need to assess the level of humanitarian aid reaching those in need in Yemen, in addition to addressing the roots of the political problem.

Nasr stressed on setting standards to ensure that humanitarian aid is not used in the continuation of the conflict in Yemen, by controlling the aid and the way it is distributed, after the investigations revealed that the Houthi militia exploited the aid and directed it in a way that does not serve the needy.

He pointed out that the recently held donors' conference for Yemen was hypothetically, as a result of the fears launched by the United Nations through the data on the ground, the last of which was that Yemen is an uninhabitable country.

On the other hand, he expressed regret that nearly half of the financial aid provided by donors to Yemen is spent as administrative and operational expenses.

He stressed that "the supporting countries work to stop the war and support the Yemenis to restore their state, because that is the root of the problem and the cause of the tragedy," he said.

The head of the Economic Media Center said, "Continuing the relief work without switching to supporting economic recovery and sustainable development programs will not help in solving the humanitarian crisis."

He stated that this is an approach that "has proven its failure during six years of war. It may succeed in alleviating the crisis, but it does not guarantee its treatment."
