Sanaa, NewsYemen, Jalal Muhammad:

In light of the decline in the value of the Yemeni riyal in front of foreign currencies, citizens are shocked every day by the rise in consumer goods, which portends an additional collapse of the purchasing power of Yemenis who have been burdened by wars and conflicts, and the almost total destruction of the economy.

Citizens in Sanaa said of the price hike as a "terrifying and frightening collapse" of their purchasing power. As for construction workers, "daily wage workers", whose day wages range between 6 and 7 thousand Yemeni riyals per day, they are classified in the category of "misery and extreme poverty", due to the lack of continuous work through which they can work and hard work to support their families. They receive it, 70% of it goes into their personal expenses on a daily basis.

Many asserted that they dispensed with a list of consumer foodstuffs, which until recently was a necessity at home, while others, entering the house became a "miracle" now, including fish and red meat.

Citizens regret that the price increases are not subject to controls and restrictions, and they rise according to special indicators and according to the royalties, war efforts and other efforts that the merchant is charged to the Houthi militia.

While some merchants, in an interview with "News Yemen", justified the sudden increase in prices, to a number of factors, including the continuation of the blockade imposed on Yemen, in addition to the instability of the local currency exchange rates against the dollar, the high transportation wages due to the high prices of oil derivatives, and the increase in insurance. On ships coming to Yemen.

In addition to the arbitrariness and practices of the Houthis, which have doubled the suffering of the people, and one of the wholesalers in Sanaa says: The transportation costs increased, the dollar was exchanged, and the Marib front was opened, and now they ask us for support to confront Corona, and before a period of force support for the missile force, and every month they have news The most important thing is to skin us with money. "

He added in his interview to NewsYemen: "My brother, you accuse the merchants, not knowing what is the truth. The truth is that the merchant is in his condition. A container or a locomotive does not go to him but he pays royalties at each point of ten thousand Yemeni riyals under the name of" point expense "even if you count how many points from Damt, or Afar in Al-Bayda, as the Houthis' first point in the direction of Sana'a, by converging more than fifty points, and you count. "

Muhammad Al-Ansi, who is the head of a family of five children, with his wife and parents at his side, says: I bought a roti for 600 riyals (one dollar = 600 Yemeni riyals in Sanaa) and my family was not enough for dinner only. Roti is now only two bites.

Al-Ansi, who is in his fifth decade, works in the "court", which is an irregular job, as he goes every morning to the "workers' forest" to wait for a job opportunity that becomes available for a day and is absent for days, he said.

Other than Muhammad, there are millions of Yemenis who live below the poverty line as a result of the raging war in the country for nearly six years, and the salaries of employees of the state’s administrative apparatus have stopped, as well as the decline in job opportunities and the rise in unemployment rates in a very frightening way, especially with the decline in the value of the local currency in front of The dollar and the almost total collapse of the economy.
