Aden, NewsYemen, Muhammad Jassar:

Citizen lives in the capital, Aden, the first days of Ramadan, in light of multiple crises due to high prices.

Residents in the capital reported that the first days of the blessed month of Ramadan had passed on the impact of an insane rise in prices.

These high prices coincided with the decline of the currency in the trading market, and it also came with the third increase in the prices of oil derivatives.

The capital, Aden, is experiencing frequent power cuts, which put a heavy burden on the citizen, who suffers from high temperature during fasting.

Regarding the currency and price crisis, Abdo al-Qurashi, a wholesaler, told "NewsYemen" that the decline in the exchange rate greatly affected the foodstuff sector, which caused a problem between us and the shop owners, as the merchant imports the goods in hard currency and supplies them to us at the purchase price.

"Due to the currency's deterioration, prices are dramatically increasing for us, which is something that many retailers do not understand," he added.

In the last five days before Ramadan, the dose came in raising the prices of foodstuffs, in an unprecedented way, as the price of cooking oil for 5 liters reached 9000 riyals after it was 7500 riyals, and the price of medium-quality rice reached 1200 riyals per kilo after it was 900, in addition to Increasing the prices of grains and spices, which must be present at Ramadan tables.

Consumer and merchant

On the same level, he complains to "NewsYemen" Ahmed Salem, a worker in one of Sheikh Othman's grocery stores, about the issue of buying and selling. The main thing is the economic decline throughout the country. As for the customers, they do not understand that the issue of rising foodstuffs is caused by the greed of some merchants and the owners of wholesale stores. We are blamed because we are in the contact area between the consumer and the merchant.

High gas

Regarding the price of gas in private stations with the month of Ramadan, residents in Aden reported that the price of the cylinder reached 9000 after the gas was a 20-liter container with 6500 around a month ago, which is a big increase that may break the citizen's back.

Residents added, "As for government stations, you see queues of people standing at a moment when gas is scarce, and its price reaches 3,500 riyals."

For his part, Ramzi Hassan, the owner of one of the public transport buses for NewsYemen, says, "To this moment, I have crises, and sometimes some passengers call us thieves because of the new transportation tariff, and unfortunately we are the ones affected the most by raising fuel prices because of our direct interaction with people."
