The Emirates Red Crescent opens 4 hospitals as a first stage of a project to build and rehabilitate 8 medical institutions in Hadhramaut

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the third, inaugurated the first phase of a project to build, rehabilitate and maintain 8 medical institutions in Hadhramaut governorate, to enhance the capabilities of the health sector in Yemen, and the first phase included the opening of 4 hospitals in the governorate with a capacity of 273 beds and providing them with the necessary medical devices and equipment.

In a large official presence, the Prime Minister, Dr. Maeen Abdul-Malik, the Governor of Hadramout, Commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, the delegation of the authority, and a number of Yemeni officials ... opened these hospitals, including two new hospitals, in addition to rehabilitating and completing the construction of the rest of the hospitals and providing them with medical equipment and the necessary equipment to strengthen its efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic, in four directorates on the coast of Hadramout, which are the hospitals of "Gail Bawazir, Al-Dees Al-Sharqiya, Al-Ridha Al-Sharqiya, and Qusayr."


During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered a speech at the beginning of which he conveyed greetings and congratulations to His Excellency the President of the Republic, welcoming the brotherly Emirati delegation, stressing the importance of the occasion and its positive impact on citizens in the Hadramawt governorate, praising the great role that the United Arab Emirates plays in a number of liberated governorates, including the governorate.  Hadramout, and its interest in the health aspect and the various service sectors in the governorate.

The Prime Minister expressed the appreciation and gratitude of the Yemeni government for the continuous support provided by the brothers in the Emirates and its humanitarian arm in Yemen, the Emirates Red Crescent, in the areas of service, development and relief, which reflects the depth of brotherhood and cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples.

In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary General of the Red Crescent Authority, affirmed that the UAE plays a pivotal role in rehabilitating the health sector in Yemen thanks to the initiatives and support of the wise leadership and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, Chairman of the Authority.  The Red Crescent, pointing out that His Highness closely follows the authority’s initiatives on the Yemeni arena, and always directs His Highness to provide the best services in all fields to the Yemeni people and to stand by them in their current circumstances.

He said that the state was able to enhance its humanitarian response to the situation in Yemen and improve the health conditions of its brothers there by supporting and developing the health sector in a number of Yemeni governorates and providing direct support and care for this vital sector.

He stressed that the Emirates Red Crescent Authority continues its humanitarian and development efforts by providing more assistance to support the stability of those affected by the events in Yemen, and to help them restore their activity and vitality.

Al-Falahi said that the medical sector development project in Hadramout governorate is nothing but a link in the series of pioneering development projects that the Emirates Red Crescent is implementing in the Yemeni arena, indicating that the authority is aware of the size of the challenges that the health sector faces in Yemen due to the current conditions there, so its initiatives have multiplied.  In this regard, it made a difference in the medical care efforts directed to Yemenis.

For his part, the Governor of Hadramout, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, expressed his happiness at the inauguration of these vital institutions to support the health sector in the governorate, stressing that the importance of these projects comes from the fact that they serve large segments in Hadhramaut as part of other humanitarian and development projects implemented by the Emirates Red Crescent in Yemen.

The Governor of Hadramawt extended sincere thanks and appreciation to the leadership and people of the UAE for their fraternal stances in support of Yemen in its current conditions, and said, "These hospitals will provide greater health care to the people of the province and prepare to respond to any further increase in the number of injured and sick."

These hospitals come as a complement to the assistance provided by the UAE as part of its tireless work to enhance the efforts of countries in combating the Covid-19 pandemic, and to support the health sector in the governorate within the preparation and construction of 8 health projects in Hadramout governorate, benefiting about 3 million people in the eastern governorates of Yemen.  Shabwa, Socotra, "including the rehabilitation and maintenance of the blood bank center at Ibn Sina Hospital, which provides its services to the sons of the four Yemeni governorates, being the only center in Hadramout specialized in providing all blood types for all governorates of the region, in addition to the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Shahr General Hospital, and the construction and restoration of Ghayl Bawazir Hospital.  Building and rehabilitating Al-Raidah Al-Sharqiya Hospital and Qusayer Health Center in Al-Raida and Qusayr District, implementing the rehabilitation and maintenance project of Al-Dees Al-Sharqiya Hospital in Hadramout Governorate, in addition to the project to complete the construction and finishing of Al-Mukalla Maternity and Child Hospital in the area of   forty apartments in the Mukalla District with a bed capacity of up to 400 beds, and its maintenance and provision of equipment and supplies  Medical services, in addition to supporting and providing medicines to hospitals and health centers.
