Dhu Bab, NewsYemen, special:

The UNHCR team arrived in Dhu Bab district on Sunday to assess the extent to which fishermen have benefited from the fishing boats distributed to them eight months ago.

The team leader, Muammar Alwan, told NewsYemen that the team is looking into the reasons why fishermen did not go out to sea and practice the profession of fishing.

He added that the High Commissioner is conducting periodic visits to the delivered projects and equipment to ensure that they are still operating normally.

For his part, the director of Dhu Bab Directorate, Muhammad Al-Shaeri, said that the boats were delivered in times prior to the date of fishing, and that strong winds prevent all fishermen from practicing the fishing profession.

Al-Shaeri asked for a period of ten days for the beneficiaries to start lowering the boats to the sea, working and earning a living.

Eight months ago, UNHCR provided 8 fishing boats for 40 families, at a value of $14,500.
