Aden, NewsYemen, special:

The unemployment rate in Yemen has risen to significant levels during the past six years, reaching 32% of the total workforce, exceeding half of what it was in 2014, amounting to 13.5%.

During the years 2014-2020, job losses and limited new employment opportunities were one of the most important direct results and main repercussions of the Houthi militia coup.

A new study confirmed that the Houthi militia pushed many young people to leave their schools and workplaces, to enter the cycle of war and engage in military confrontations.

The Houthi militia created great challenges for the youth and the youth, the displacement of millions from their homes and the loss of property, the interruption of salaries for a large proportion of public employees, the decline in basic services, the emergence of a war economy, and the collapse of the currency.

The study, funded by UNICEF, said that in addition to the risks resulting from the war led by the Houthi militia, including the recruitment of young people and their involvement in military confrontations, it deprived them of their sources of livelihood.

Population projections in Yemen show that the youth group represents about 32 percent of the total population for the year 2020, and they constitute the largest percentage of the labor force.

The lack of political and security stability and the ineffectiveness of economic policies have increased the challenges facing adolescents and youth, as these conditions contributed to the inability to obtain education that is adequate to the needs of the labor market.
