Sana'a, NewsYemen:

Al-Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, arrested businessman Hajj Abdullah Al-Qass, in connection with a dispute over lands believed to be owned by endowments and leased from the merchant Al-Qass.

The Houthi militia stormed the ground in question and demolished part of its wall in preparation for the construction of an endowment building without notifying the tenant of the land, the merchant “Al-Qass”.

According to local sources, the merchant “Al-Qass” submitted a written complaint to the Endowments Office in Sana’a, before instructing Abdullah Amer, the appointed director of the Endowments and Guidance Office in Sana’a Municipality, to deposit Al-Qass in a special prison for Endowments without legal justification.

The sources referred to the imprisonment of brothers of the merchant “Al-Qass” who later submitted for review in the same way.

Political activist and writer Mutahar Taqi considered such practices illegal abuses and deliberately insulting people and businessmen, and appealed to the person appointed to the position of Attorney General, Dr. Muhammad al-Dailami, to issue his directives "to investigate what the businessman Abdullah al-Qass and his brothers were subjected to by Abdullah Amer."

In a comment on his Facebook page, under the title (Insulting the people in Sanaa has become a habit), Mutahar Taqi expressed his regret at what he described as “violations of the law and insulting people by the leaders of some official bodies, especially the voluntary,” in reference to the Houthi militia’s imposition.  Taxes and royalties on merchants, small sellers and workers in the commercial sector.
