"Independent Southern " calls for the release of detainees in Shabwa and the accountability of perpetrators

 The Southern Independent Group for the Defense of Human Rights condemned the violations committed by the Shabwa authority, the raid of the village of Al Bafqir in Mayfa'a, and the arrest of 9 members of the tribe, calling for the release of all detainees.

The Southern Independent Group for the Defense of Human Rights condemned, in a statement, "the violations committed by the forces affiliated with the Yemeni authority in Shabwa governorate, where the forces affiliated with the Yemeni authority in the southern governorate of Shabwa have repeatedly committed grave violations against civilians, without regard to human rights standards."  And his dignity, including what those forces committed on Friday, June 11, against the members of the Al Bafqir tribe in the Mayfa’a district, when a force from the 2nd Infantry Brigade raided a celebration of the members of that tribe, using excessive force, including provocative shooting, and transforming the celebration from a state of joy to a state of turmoil and attack.  without taking into account the social and tribal customs and traditions of such occasions.

According to the statement, "these forces arrested nine sons of the Bafqir family without legal justification, including the following: Ahmed Saeed Baqtah Bafqir, Ma'in Ahmed Saeed Salmin Bafqir, Youssef Muhammad Nasser Bafqir, Mohsen Salih al-Hamid Bafqir, Muhammad Salih al-Hamid Bafqir, Muhammad Salih Omar.  Bafqir, Salih Muhammad Ali Bafqir, Naif Salem Muhammad Bafqir, Ali Ahmed Saeed Bafqir.

On the other hand, a military group of the Special Forces in Shabwa governorate, on Saturday, June 12, raided a popular market in the Khamer area of Ataq District, and the soldiers provoked the sellers and confiscated their sales.

After the sellers refused that provocation, the soldiers arrested five of them: Ahmed Nasser Ahmed Al-Ratil Al-Khulaifi, Muhammad Abdullah Salem Lakhza Al-Khulaifi, Khalifa Hussein Nasser Baoum Al-Khulaifi, Tariq Muhammad Salem Hadi Al-Khulaifi, Ahmed Salem Ahmed Al-Sariri Al-Khulaifi.

The Southern Independent Group called on the Yemeni authority to quickly release all detainees, to hold the soldiers who committed these illegal violations and arbitrary arrests accountable, and not to escape from conspiracy and incitement to punishment, and that the members of the Shabwani Al Bafir tribe be rehabilitated, and justice for the victims is in line with what happened  them from material and moral damages.

The Southern Independent Group called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn these violations, and to put pressure on the Yemeni authority to stop these violations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
