Abyan, NewsYemen:

A number of residents of Abyan governorate complained of a phenomenon they described as absurd and illegal, stressing that the foodstuffs provided by the "Care" organization are sold in the forestry market for huge sums.

They made it clear that the relief aid did not reach the hands of the needy, but rather to the influential, as it is sold openly in the markets without any oversight from the organization or the local authority.

They pointed out that the bag of flour is sold for "13,000" riyals (high quality red flour), while this aid is supposed to go to the poorest families in Abyan governorate, as well as to the displaced, while it is sold in front of distribution centers during the day.

They wondered, where is the role of oversight by the implementing and donor organization?

They called on the local authority and the security services to prevent traders and brokers from buying and selling monthly relief foodstuffs.
