Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

Military sources in the Marib governorate confirmed that fierce battles are taking place in three areas around the city, the center of the governorate, between tribes backed by units of government forces, the Arab coalition fighters led by Saudi Arabia on the one hand, and the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on the other.

The sources stated that the tribes and the local resistance in Marib are fighting fierce battles against the Houthi militia, which penetrated a number of fronts in Al-Kasara, west of Marib, and Al-Shahla in Al-Jawf Governorate, "close to the administrative borders of the Marib Governorate", as well as trying to penetrate the areas of "Al-Mushairif and Baqitha Waheed Al-Ahmed, Waheed Al Harez", in the Rahba front south of Marib.

The battles in Marib coincided with the militias bombing separate areas of the city and its surroundings with modern missiles recently received from Iran, as well as launching missile and booby-trapped aircraft attacks towards Saudi Arabia, the last of which was, at dawn today, Wednesday, with three planes that were intercepted and shot down in Yemeni airspace.  According to the Arab Alliance.

The sources pointed out that these three axes have been witnessing battles since last August 28, which came after a massive mobilization process carried out by the militias in their areas of control, and they were pushed to Marib, to fight what they called the "great battle" to regain Marib and its oil and gas areas.

In the western axis of the city of Ma'rib, the battles between the two sides are taking place in the areas of "Hamt al-Dhiab", after the Houthis took control of Malbouda and Tabat al-Sidd, in al-Kasara, and reached the vicinity of "Tabbat al-Khashab" near the Egyptian hill, a penetration that threatens the city of Marib directly.

In the northwestern axis, the battles continued between the two sides in the vicinity of the Al-Shahla area in Al-Jawf, close to the road linking Al-Jawf and Marib, which was controlled by the Iranian militias, and secured areas in the nearby Mudaghl district, another breakthrough by the Houthis towards the city of Marib.

In the southern Marib front, the militias are trying to advance towards an area with confidence in an attempt to surround the tribes and units of government forces, in the southwest of the Jabal Murad district.

The Houthi militias are engaged in battles in conjunction with launching missile and booby-trapped aircraft attacks towards the southern regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, focused on the Khamis Mushait and Abha regions in Asir, which prompted the Saudi coalition to focus on the launching areas of those marches and missiles, in Sanaa and Saada, and neglected the advances on the land in the vicinity of Marib.

The Arab coalition had confirmed the destruction of three booby-trapped drones in Yemeni airspace today, despite announcing yesterday the destruction of the launch pad for those marches in Sanaa, and the failure of an attempt to launch a new march, in the Hamdan area, north of Sanaa, where more than 30 Houthis were killed and wounded, including two experts of the Iranians and one from the Lebanese Hezbollah, were at the site.

Well-informed sources in Sana'a confirmed the Houthis' insistence on achieving rapid progress on the Ma'rib front, before the new UN envoy to Yemen began his duties on the tenth of this month, as well as exploiting the international community's preoccupation with what is happening in Afghanistan.

Despite the size of the losses suffered by the militias during the past few days in the vicinity of Marib, estimated at 104 dead and dozens of wounded, 22 of their members were captured, including four prominent leaders, in addition to the destruction of 19 combat vehicles, including three tanks, six armored vehicles and 10 crews, and the destruction of three platforms of launching missiles and drones, it continues to send reinforcements, especially school students, towards Marib, as it continues to wage fierce fighting against tribes and government forces on more than one front.

It is noteworthy that the militias had given the tribes in Marib a truce to accept the city’s initiative, which was handed over to the Omani delegation, and that they would use the option of battles to resolve the matter if the initiative was rejected, and that the anniversary of its coup on September 21 will be the decisive date for entering Marib and controlling the oil and gas sources.
