Aden, NewsYemen:

Security sources revealed the arrest of the leader of the Houthi militia and the most prominent references to Iranian sectarian thought, Hassan Ali Yahya Al-Emad, last week, while he was returning in disguise from Iran through the land port in the Shahn area of Al-Mahra Governorate, eastern Yemen.

Al-Imad is classified as one of the most dangerous ideological leaders of the Houthis, and the most prominent Twelver authority. He is married to an Iranian woman and has a house in Tehran. His father, Yahya Al-Imad, is one of the most important religious authorities that originated in Iran, and is considered one of the most important founders of the Houthi movement and the Iranian project in Yemen.

The General was also responsible for coordinating with a special committee established by Tehran to support the Houthis in the media and human rights through the cadres and Yemeni students of sectarian seminaries, and the necessary funding for the committee was approved by the Iranian parliament.

The General runs a group of Houthi organizations and charities working to implement the Iranian project’s agenda in Yemen, including organizing the future of justice and the Foundation for Science and Work.

He also participated in 2006 in financing and supervising a Houthi cell that planned to assassinate the late Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the general was then present in Tehran and returned to Yemen in 2011.

Since then, Al-Imad has moved between Sanaa and Tehran until 2015, when he was unable to leave Yemen after the announcement of the Decisive Storm, until he left for Tehran in 2016 via a United Nations plane.

In July 2020, the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Salami, honored Hassan al-Imad at the “Mujahideen in Exile” conference, an international conference held in Tehran to honor the personalities and organizations that support the Revolutionary Guards and work under its supervision outside Iran.

Hassan Al-Emad's four brothers occupy important positions and positions with the Houthis, including Ali Al-Emad, head of the Houthi Central Organization for Control and Accountability.

The Houthis also appointed Ahmed al-Imad as head of the external communication team for the coup militia, while Issam al-Imad is considered a reference for the Twelver Shi'ite sect in Yemen.
