Shabwa, NewsYemen, private:

In mid-January, the Shabwa governorate, the Brotherhood's Muhammad bin Udayo, stood on an iron platform on which a banner was hung indicating "the inauguration of the Qena port", to herald the sons of the governor of a new era of prosperity and development, stressing that "Shabwa will not be like Aden."

Ibn Adyo’s confirmation came in the midst of a Brotherhood media campaign that talks about a different future awaiting the governorate, through “giant” projects, beginning with the “Port Qena” project, which was described as the most important project in the governorate’s history, in addition to talking about other projects in the field of electricity and roads, within the framework of  Polishing campaign for the Muslim Brotherhood in the province.

However, the reality of these projects under the authority of Ben Adeo soon began to be revealed, and their beginning was with the Qena port project, which stopped working just two months after its inauguration due to a dispute that broke out between Ben Adeo and the Brotherhood businessman Ahmed Al-Essa, who is responsible for the establishment and management of the port.

The port has been shut down for about 5 months, to show the fact that the project was nothing more than a private project for Al-Essi to expand his trade in importing oil derivatives.

The project was halted and generated a severe oil derivatives crisis, which forced Bin Adyo to return to buying it from the branch of the oil company in the Hadhramaut coast, after he entered into a sharp dispute with it late last year, and the Shabwa authority was promoting that the Qena port project would liberate the governorate from its tyranny.

It is noteworthy that the prices of oil derivatives in the governorate are the highest among the liberated governorates, where the price of a bottle of gasoline (20 liters) reaches 15,000 riyals, while the price in Aden is 12,000 riyals.

The second file that exposes the Brotherhood's power projects in Shabwa is the electricity file, as the governorate suffers from a severe electricity crisis.  Amer Thabet, an activist in the governorate, says that she works for only 5 hours in the evening, and in the governorate's capital, Ataq only.

Amer added, sarcastically in his Facebook post: "This is the capital of Ataq, but the rest of the governorate's 16 districts have forgotten a need called electricity."

Recalling that the governor had signed an agreement on 16/4/2021 to establish a gas station with a capacity of 60 megawatts in the Al-Sawda area, and commented: "To this day, we have only seen the qat market in the Al-Sawda area, other than that."

In the face of this situation, the governorate’s authority tried to polish its image by talking about its achievements through a campaign by the Information Office under the title “Here is development.” The office published on its Facebook page a video clip talking about the achievements of the Brotherhood’s authority in the field of electricity.

Office manager Abdullah Barhama said that the local authority installed more than 13,000 electricity poles and delivered electricity to 5 districts in the governorate for the first time. He commented: All this is for some (media popups).

Hundreds of angry and sarcastic comments were poured out on the office’s page from the people of the governorate, about the Brotherhood’s authority talking about installing electricity poles at a time when there is no electricity in the governorate’s capital, Ataq.

The activists recalled the statement of Governor Ben Adyo when he inaugurated the port of Qena that Shabwa will not be like Aden, commenting sarcastically that his words have become true and that Shabwa is not like Aden but has become worse than it.
