Aden, NewsYemen:

The local authority, in the governorate of Aden (southern Yemen), was forced to suspend the educational process in schools, starting from the 12th of this September until the third of next October, due to the total power outage, after the power stations ran out of fuel, amid a heat wave and severe humidity in the city. In addition to the outbreak of the third wave of the emerging coronavirus.

The governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, agreed to the request of the administration of the Education Office in the governorate to stop the educational process, following the power outage during school hours, according to what was stated in the office management’s letter to the governor.

The letter indicated that a severe heat wave had caused cases of coma among the students.

The administration of the Education Office pointed to other reasons, including the suffering of many schools from water scarcity that others lack, in addition to the difficulty in implementing precautionary measures such as social or physical distancing, given the density of the number of students and the lack of a sufficient number of teachers, stressing the inability to providing masks, sterilizers and hygiene tools.

Aden lives under the impact of a service war, practiced by the regime of the interim president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, whose pace has recently increased with the refusal of legitimacy to supply power plants with fuel despite the power outages that caused water cuts to some neighborhoods, facilities and institutions, in addition to cases of fainting of students and teachers in schools as well as children and the elderly.
