Aden, NewsYemen:

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said the kingdom has a "very strong dialogue" with the United States on how to find a path toward a ceasefire and end the conflict in Yemen.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan added, in a joint press conference with European Union Foreign Policy Coordinator Josep Borrell, in Riyadh, on Sunday: "We have a common priority to achieve these two goals. From our point of view, the priority should be to find a path to a ceasefire, and the main obstacle to that."  It is the continuation of the Houthi military attack on Marib and their continuous military attack on targets inside the kingdom as well.”

He added, with regard to the proposed ceasefire, there is a "clear path" to lifting the remaining restrictions, pointing out that Sana'a airport is open to all humanitarian flights and Hodeidah port is open to commercial shipping.

The Saudi official said: "The existing restrictions are only procedural, so there is no real argument to say that these two issues should prevent entering into a ceasefire and starting a political dialogue."

While Borrell said, "We know that Saudi Arabia is being attacked by ballistic missiles coming from Yemen launched by the Houthis, and certainly they are not the ones who manufacture the missiles, there are those who provide them," adding that the war in Yemen has no military solution and needs to be ended through negotiations.

Borrell emphasized that “We will continue to express to the Houthis that this kind of behavior is contrary to all kinds of international law.” He condemned the cross-border attacks on Saudi Arabia by the Iranian-backed rebel group in Yemen.
