Aden, NewsYemen:

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, called for the formation of the joint negotiating delegation for the comprehensive political process, in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement.

This came during his meeting with the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, who arrived in the capital, Aden, on Tuesday.

Al-Zubaidi stressed that "the transitional council's participation in the peace process is essential and cannot be bypassed in any case, and this participation must include the council's presence at all stages of the political process as a major party."

He stressed that "the Riyadh Agreement represents an important station on the path to laying the foundations for the political process and establishing peace in the south and Yemen," adding, "and in order to achieve this in a practical way, it is necessary to form a joint negotiating delegation for the comprehensive political process."

The President of the Transitional Council pointed to the need for the international community to grant the Special Envoy a real mandate that reflects the reality of the parties on the ground, the causes and roots of the conflict, and national issues, foremost of which is the issue of the people of the south, which the Council represents.

The Riyadh Agreement, signed between the Transitional Council and the Yemeni government, provides for the formation of a joint negotiating delegation to the final solution to the crisis in Yemen under the auspices of the United Nations.
