On Sunday, local sources in Shabwa governorate reported that the Houthi militia had kidnapped a number of soldiers while they were returning from the city of Ataq to their areas in the Bayhan districts, which they controlled without a fight last September.

The sources said that the militia has detained dozens of army employees, from the people of Bayhan, at one of its points in the region, and is refusing to release them except on conditions.

It explained that the soldiers are not currently participating in any hostilities, but left for Ataq, the capital of Shabwa governorate, to receive their government salaries, but the militia kidnapped them upon their return to their areas in Baihan.

According to the sources, the Houthi militia requires the kidnapped soldiers to fill out forms (returnees) to release them, a procedure the militia uses in its areas of control, against those involved in the ranks of the government forces, if they return to their areas.

While other sources reported that the Houthis kidnapped a number of soldiers from the same area, in the district of Dhi Naem, in Al-Bayda governorate, on their way to the capital, Aden, to receive their salaries.

Later, the Houthi militia released them after filling in the data of what it calls (the returnee form), which includes conditions that criminalize returning again to the areas of influence of the legitimate government for any reason, and punishes them with imprisonment.
