UN envoy discusses de-escalation in Yemen with Parliament Speaker

The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, stressed the need to focus on mitigating the effects of the conflict and ending the war in the country through negotiations.

Grundberg's office said on his Twitter account, "The UN envoy met with the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, Sultan al-Barakani, and a number of parliamentarians, in Cairo."

He added that "the latest developments and the need to reduce the escalation in Yemen were discussed."

Grundberg stressed the need to focus on the two priorities of mitigating the effects of the conflict, and working to end the conflict through a negotiated settlement.
