Shabwa, NewsYemen, private:

Since the Brotherhood took control of Shabwa governorate, it has been noticed that the Brotherhood's authority pays great attention to the Special Forces, and it has taken over all the areas and facilities, and disbursed funds to them to be the largest and most present force in the governorate.

The Special Forces are a pro-Brotherhood force, as are the Special Forces in other regions, and it is led by Brotherhood leaders of affiliation. These forces do not accept leadership or individuals who do not belong to the organization, and their members are charged and incited with Brotherhood ideas and the atonement of its opponents.

Abed Rabbo Lakab, commander of the Special Forces in Beihan, assumed command of the force in the governorate after its fall in August of 2019. He is one of the Brotherhood’s security leaders and expelled all its former leaders and summoned leaders from mosque imams and teachers belonging to the Brotherhood, and handed them the most important positions of force.

The force obtained great support to be the only striking force in the province, which is with full Brotherhood loyalty. Lakab al-Sharif was appointed as a leader because of his kinship with the head of the Islah Party in the province, Muhammad Abboud al-Sharif, who ran the province and controlled all its joints, according to sheikhs in the province.

The Special Forces formed the Brotherhood’s stick to target the tribes, and carried out kidnappings, and the Shabwani street accused them of carrying out assassinations against the Brotherhood’s opponents and forcing its leaders to provoke the Shabwani tribes.

The Shabwani street complains about the actions and tyranny of the Special Forces, and they believe that they were found to tear the social fabric and provide a safe haven for killers and terrorists. They also collect large royalties and levies on trucks and merchants, which has caused prices to rise, the most important of which is gas, which imposes high fees illegally and without official bonds.

Before the dismissal of the Brotherhood governor, Muhammad bin Adyo, the Special Forces tried to provoke the tribes that started the sit-in in Ataq, and sought to blow up the situation to prevent the dismissal decision.

After the decision, these forces are still subject to Ibn Aboud Al-Sharif and Ibn Adyo, and the pictures of the former governor are uploaded to their vehicles.

Politicians in Shabwa governorate see the Special Forces as a time bomb, calling for the need to restructure and rearrange them and to form a new leadership loyal to the governorate and not to parties.

The Shabwani street also accuses the Special Forces of coordinating and serving with the Houthi militias after they suddenly withdrew from the Bayhan districts before handing over the districts, and a number of the force’s leaders belong to the districts occupied by the Houthi militias and from Hashemite families and families.

The force did not arrest any Houthi elements, despite their apparent appearance in the districts of Bayhan, Usaylan, and others when it was in control, and its elements overpowered elite soldiers, media professionals, and activists who violated the Brotherhood's authority.

Journalist Sami Al-Babkri had said earlier that the Shabwa Special Forces are chasing and arresting Shabwa Elite soldiers, while elements that participated in the fighting with Al-Houthi are moving comfortably in the governorate.

Al-Babkri wrote, in a post on Facebook, that there was never a detection of a Houthi cell or elements by the security services in Shabwa, although there are not a few that openly declare their affiliation with the Houthis, and some of them participated in the fighting, he said.

Al-Babkri indicated that there are many cases of disappearance and imprisonment that were subjected to soldiers and ordinary individuals belonging to the Shabwani elite by the Special Forces, while Houthi elements move in the governorate with ease and are not intercepted by anyone.
