3,400 Yemenis displaced in less than a week

The International Organization for Migration said that it had monitored the displacement of more than 3,400 Yemenis in less than a week, as a result of the escalation of hostilities in the east and west of the country.

In its weekly report on displacement, the United Nations added that between January 2-8, the IOM's Displacement Matrix tracked in Yemen 578 families, representing 3,468 individuals, who were displaced at least once.

It pointed out that the largest number of displacement cases was recorded, respectively, in the governorates of Shabwa (274 families), Al Hudaydah (160 families) and Marib (147 families).

It explained that  had monitored the displacement of 708 families representing (4,248 individuals) since the beginning of this year 2022 .

According to the organization, the escalation of fighting was the main cause of displacement by 98 percent, followed by reasons related to the economic and humanitarian situation.
