Aden, NewsYemen:

The US special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, said on Tuesday that the Houthi militia's opening of roads in Taiz will serve humanitarian goals, stressing the United States' commitment to bringing peace to Yemen, and calling on the Yemeni parties to choose peace over war and destruction and maintain the truce that will expire on the second of August.

"The security calm must be maintained," said Tim Lenderking, in statements to Al-Arabiya channel, offering condolences to the Al-Ajmi family, who died in the hands of the Houthis, and asking them to release all prisoners.

He thanked Jordan and Cairo for facilitating flights from Yemen to Amman and Sana'a, noting that Iran had encouraged the Houthis to attack civilians.

The US envoy to Yemen said: "There are difficult issues being negotiated for the first time in years. There are military committees under the auspices of Saudi Arabia negotiating face-to-face for the first time, and I am cautiously optimistic about the Taiz negotiations. As for the armistice, there is support for it from Saudi Arabia, Iran and other countries, and we call on all regional parties in  Qatar, Oman and the UAE support the armistice and the political process to end the war."
