Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

The imposition of levies by the authority of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, has become one of the most prominent features that distinguish these militias in an unconstitutional, illegal and unprecedented manner in the history of Yemen.

Since the coup of the Houthi militia and its control of state institutions in Sana’a on September 21, 2014, it has been practicing systematic operations to impose levies on everything related to people’s lives, starting with enacting unconstitutional, illegal and even separatist regulations, by imposing additional customs and tax duties on all goods and merchandise  And vehicles and others that enter Sana’a and its areas of control, even on those goods, goods and vehicles that have previously paid taxes and customs at the official ports of the Republic of Yemen, such as the ports of Aden, Mukalla and Mocha, or land ports such as the Shahn border port with Oman, or the deposit port with Saudi Arabia, up to imposing  Taxes on everything, the latest of which is a tax on local chicken, and a charge for passengers traveling through Sanaa airport.

In this context, and in the latest developments of the Houthi militias, local sources in Sanaa told NewsYemen: that the Houthi militias imposed fees on parking lots and vehicles for malls and shops, and obligated the owners of these shops not to object to militia affiliated elements to collect these amounts, ranging from (100  -200) riyals for each vehicle parked in front of any commercial mall.

The sources added: In addition, the militias have imposed fees on sewage suction cups in the neighborhoods and areas where public sewage service is not available, where sewage is suctioned by private suction cups. Homeowners or rented residents pay for the suction operations.

According to the sources, the Houthi militia imposed on all owners of sewage suction cups a monthly sum of up to fifty thousand riyals.

The new levies imposed on sewage suction cups were met with great mockery on social media, whose activists considered that these levies are similar to the levies imposed on chicken, and on other things.  He collects these fees and royalties into accounts of his own and his militia, and that the process falls within the framework of corruption, theft and looting practiced by militias against public money and people's money.
