Citizens and Politicians: The armistice is a trap in which all parties except the Houthi militia fellEnglish - الأربعاء 03 أغسطس 2022 الساعة 09:54 ص
The Houthi militia has exhausted all its tricks in front of the rest of the parties to the conflict, including the citizen who closely monitors the situation without coming up with any feasible solutions.
The armistice was a last resort that Iran's arm used to destroy what remained of the serious dialogue process; Opening all crossings and roads, a ceasefire, not killing civilians and soldiers, and planting mines.
What happened in recent months is a unilateral agreement, violations exceeded thousands, no crossing was opened, dozens of civilians were killed or wounded, children and civilians had the largest share, more than 100 billion riyals of oil imports were looted through the port of Hodeidah without the militia to deliver even the salary of one employee.
Abdulsattar Al-Shamiri, a political researcher, said in this context: The repeated truces are a thorny path that turns the Yemeni issue into a state of pacification, cooling and freezing, and does not put us in front of the option of a political solution.
He added, I think it is wrong for the legitimacy to go to unconditional and non-chronic truces, and to prevent the Houthis from being serious; He is trying to raise the ceiling of his demands as a long truce and new gains, and I do not think that these truces can lead us to a solution.
Al-Shamiri stressed that the presidential administration should review his work plan and move the political and military papers again, such as opening the Mocha port as an alternative to Hodeidah and some other papers that could lead to semi-gains between the two parties, or to the horizon for a political process, even if it seems far away.
Osama al-Bar, an activist and media figure, says that there is no truce in the world from one side except in the Yemeni scene, and this is a dangerous and strange precedent.
He added, I find no justification for the United Nations to be desperate to continue the truce and to impose an agenda that is binding on one party while the other obstructs the entire peace process. Rather, it underestimates all decisions and agreements.
He concluded: What is happening puts the legitimate government and leaders in front of a fait accompli, the necessity of a military resolution to stop all future threats.
For his part, Mahmoud al-Taher, a politician and journalist, said that the truce was unilateral, and the conditions that were considered essential points in declaring the truce were implemented only by one. The process is promoting the Democrats at home for the elections, to be one of the achievements made during the Biden era, who failed to implement many of his promises.
Noting that the truce was not satisfactory to the majority of Yemenis, and that the figures announced by the United Nations, a decrease in the number of deaths and displacement, are inaccurate, as internal displacement increased, and the flight from Houthi control, and human suffering increased, although there were many revenues that entered Houthi areas for the purpose of relief, Al-Houthi acquired it, and used it for mobilization and training.
He concluded his speech to Newsemen: The truce in any case will be extended until after the midterm elections. Al-Houthi’s talk that he will not accept its renewal as an evasion of it, is the most keen people to continue it, because he is a beneficiary, his recent statements rejecting it, aiming to obtain new gains.
On the other hand, if the Command Council insists that the truce does not concern him and raise the ceiling of its conditions, Al-Houthi will comply with all conditions, because he is unable to confront now in light of the unity of all Yemeni political forces.
