Dismantling dozens of explosive devices behind which Al-Qaeda fortified in Wadi Omran

Abyan, NewsYemen:

 The southern forces managed to clear large areas in Wadi Omran and the surrounding mountains, east of Mudiyah District, Abyan Governorate, on Thursday morning, after violent battles that took place on Wednesday night with al-Qaeda elements.

The bombs and mines planted by the terrorist organization in the valley and the rugged mountains hindered the forces' advance towards the top of the mountains, and the explosive removal teams were able to dismantle dozens of them.

According to the sources there, the southern forces achieved a great victory in the battle of Omran by liberating large parts of the area, which is the first stronghold of al-Qaeda in the Abyan governorate.

Sources in the southern forces confirmed that the drones played a prominent role in clearing the valley and were able to kill dozens of terrorist organization members.

Military sources indicated that the southern forces reinforced their forces in Mudiyah with large forces from the security belt on Thursday evening, as large forces arrived in Omran and Mudiyah to continue clearing the area and heading towards the Al-Mahfad district and meeting with the Shabwa Defense Forces, which are deployed in the governorate’s borders with Abyan.
