Not many days passed since the Brotherhood leader loyal to the Houthis in Al-Mahra Governorate, Ali Salem Al-Huraizi, issued his threats against the Presidential Leadership Council and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, until a sudden decision came to appoint a new leadership for the Al-Ghaydah military axis, which is aligned with the Islah party.

A strong response was sent by the Presidential Command Council to these threats by appointing Brigadier General Mohsen Ali Marsa' as the commander of the Al-Ghaydah axis in addition to his work as commander of the Military Police forces in Al-Mahra and promoting him to the rank of major general.  Especially since the man is one of the prominent military leaders who refused allegiance to the Brotherhood and implemented their subversive agenda in the governorate and remained steadfast despite the harassment and exclusion that were practiced against his forces during the past years.

Al-Huraizi, who came about a week ago to Al-Mahra from the Sultanate of Oman, appeared ecstatic and bragged about having large forces - in reference to the forces of the Al-Ghaydah axis, whose previous leadership was affiliated with the Islah Party - and threatening to wage war and fight against the Yemeni forces and the forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in order to declare the secession of Al-Mahra state .

The decision to appoint “Marsa’” as the leader of the Al-Ghaydah axis was a surprise to the Brotherhood, and a strong blow that many observers and military and political analysts described as a first step to dismantle the Brotherhood’s hornet’s nest in the governorate, which is the last Brotherhood stronghold in southern Yemen, along with Wadi Hadhramaut.

Several attempts by the Brotherhood’s Islah Party to include the man who leads the military police force into their wing, the forces loyal to them, in order to tighten their grip on the province, but the man appointed by President Hadi’s refusal about 3 years ago made him a barrier to their plans.  So they put pressure on the man and his forces by cutting off feeding the soldiers for a year, and transferring the structure of his forces, which was under the command of the second military region in Mukalla, to the third military region in Marib, which is under the control of the Brotherhood.

Only hours after the decision was issued, Brotherhood media outlets, including Al-Mahariya TV, which broadcasts from Turkey, launched frantic campaigns, as well as through Islah party activists on social media, who expressed their rejection of the decision, accusing Brigadier Marsa’ of being one of the arms of the Southern Transitional Council after the meeting.  Which the brigadier general held with a member of the Presidential Command Council - President of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, in the capital, Aden, in mid-September, who issued directives to return the forces to the second region and redistribute nutrition to the soldiers.

The Brotherhood campaign against the decision took advantage of the issue of the man not belonging to Al-Mahra Governorate, as a cover for the rejection decision, although the man was appointed by former Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on July 15, 2019, as commander of the military police forces, and no leaders from Al-Mahra came out to criticize the decision at the time.  The man was received and involved in many tasks in which he succeeded and proved his worth.

The Brotherhood's wailing emerged in the statement of the Brotherhood leader appointed to the position of Deputy Governor of Al-Mahra Governorate for Youth Affairs, Badr Kelshat, who said that the decision issued by President Rashad Al-Alimi was unsuccessful.

The Brotherhood leader posted a tweet on his Twitter page: "An unsuccessful decision, you took all the revenue from the center. We kept quiet and said the state is in a difficult circumstance.

He added: "Shall we remain silent until you bring a governor from Al-Dhalea, a security director from Lahj, and agents from Aden, Hadhramaut and Shabwa?!"

New accounts bearing the nicknames Al-Mahri appeared on Twitter, arguing that the people of the province reject the decision to appoint the new Al-Ghaydah axis leader, under the guise that it legitimizes the domination of the Southern Transitional Council over the province.  Meanwhile, Brotherhood activists in Al-Mahra went on to express their rejection of the appointment decision that it falls within a conspiracy scheme against Mahra, and that any negligence on the part of Mahra and acceptance of these decisions is a historical crime against the future and fate of Mahra.

The campaign against Major General Mohsen Ali Marsa reveals the man's danger to the Houthi Brotherhood project in Mahra, as the appointment decision represents the starting point in order to correct the situation of the Ghaydah Axis forces accused of sponsoring smuggling operations coming from the sea and the Omani borders.

Observers confirmed that the Presidential Command Council has warned that there are suspicious moves to mobilize military and security forces in favor of the Houthi Brotherhood project, to strike at the efforts of the Presidential Council and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, in service of the Iranian project in controlling an important port in eastern Yemen.

They added that what worries the Brotherhood most now in Al-Mahra, following the decision to appoint Major General Marsa’, is their fear of smuggling operations that take place through the governorate’s ports and coming from Iran in favor of the Houthis, as well as reducing the influence of local leaders, led by Ali Salem Al-Huraizi.
