Residential militia towers in Sana'a are threatened with collapse

Sources working in the real estate sector and specialists said that the residential towers in Sana'a are threatened with collapse due to their violation of specifications and their construction within very short periods of time.

The sources, according to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, accused leaders of the terrorist Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, of being involved in building these violating houses and preventing the authorities responsible for monitoring them from examining them or ensuring the safety of buildings and soil in order to reap quick profits.

Three entities created by the militias within the framework of the state’s nationalization project stand behind this corruption that threatens the lives of thousands of Sana’a residents. These entities are: the Justice Authority, the Military Lands Committee, and the Endowments Authority. According to its directives, large areas of land were confiscated under the pretext that they are state property, endowments, or from  The properties of the Imamate regime that ruled northern Yemen were also confiscated, and residential city plans for public servants and members of military units were confiscated, as this caused an insane rise in land prices.

During a meeting held Sunday, February 19, members of the Sana'a Parliament stressed the importance of towers and residential buildings being subject to direct supervision by specialists and experts, and not tolerating any violations of the approved specifications and standards.

And while Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper revealed that the Minister of Public Works in the unrecognized coup government, Ghaleb Mutlaq, entered the line of warnings of an expected disaster due to the violation of these buildings to specifications, and demanded that he be released from responsibility in the event of anything happening, and said that if half of the earthquake that occurred in  In Turkey and Syria, these towers will collapse, and he complained that his ministry was not allowed to verify the tests of the soil on which these towers were built, the quality of building materials, and the cement mixture that was used in the construction, and whether these buildings are valid or not.

According to the newspaper, Mutlaq, during the same parliament session, confirmed that there is great fraud and crimes taking place in these towers, and that his ministry has 15,000 engineers with international experience who graduated from the best universities, but they have become marginalized, while only three of them have been appointed to simple positions.

Previous reports published by "Newsyemen" revealed that specific Houthi leaders control the real estate market and land acquisition in Sana'a after they disrupted the judiciary and formed bodies to resolve land disputes between citizens and their counterparts from the leaders.  It also guarantees the issuance of building permits and prevents any attempts to monitor construction operations and conduct inspections of the construction site.

The four leaders are: Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, head of the so-called Justice Authority, Abdullah al-Razami, commander of the Houthi military sector south of the capital, Abdullah Jahaf, head of the so-called Armed Forces Lands Committee, and Khaled al-Madani, head of the so-called Wounded Institution.
