UAE: It is time to move from managing the conflict in Yemen to finding a solution to it

The United Arab Emirates stressed that the time has come to move from managing the conflict in Yemen to finding a solution to it.
The UAE Minister of State, Noura Al-Kaabi, said: The UAE believes that it is time to shift our focus from managing the conflict to finding a solution to it, starting with renewing the armistice and alleviating the humanitarian conditions experienced by the people of Yemen and the catastrophic consequences of the war, and moving from the relief phase to recovery and achieving more sustainable development.
This came during the Emirati minister's participation in the activities of the donors' conference hosted by the Kingdom of Sweden and the Swiss Confederation in cooperation with the United Nations in Geneva to mobilize support to cover the humanitarian response plan for the Yemeni people for the current year.
Al-Kaabi renewed the UAE's commitment to supporting the Yemeni people, explaining that since 2015, the country has provided total aid worth $6.6 billion to Yemen, and a deposit of $300 million to support its national currency.
It added: "In continuation of this approach, and in addition to multilateral peace and development efforts in Yemen, the UAE will also focus this year on supporting recovery and rehabilitation projects with an amount of $325 million, targeting the health care, renewable energy and agriculture sectors, including a major project to build a dam for irrigation purposes.”
Al-Kaabi continued, "The UAE supports the ongoing negotiations to continue and urge the Houthis to show the necessary flexibility for the success of the peace process, and also thanks the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continuous support for humanitarian response efforts as well as for advancing the political process in Yemen."
The UAE’s speech at the conference stressed that 2023 should be the year in which peace is achieved in Yemen, support for all international efforts to put an end to the conflict, meet the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people, and achieve peace and stability in Yemen and the region, especially those efforts made by the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, Saudi Arabia and Mediation from Oman.
