Aden, Newsyemen:

In the middle of next week, the UN Security Council will hold a new session on Yemen, in light of the intense moves being made by the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to revive the peace process.

According to the temporary work program of the Security Council, on Monday, September 11, the Council will hold its monthly meeting on Yemen in a closed consultation session.  Council members, as usual, will listen to a briefing from the UN envoy on the results of the meetings he conducted with his office during the past weeks with the Yemeni parties and influential countries in the region in order to cease fire, pay salaries, and prepare for concluding a new truce within an inclusive political process.

The representative of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, David Gresley, will also give a briefing on the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen, in light of the decline in many humanitarian programs due to lack of funding and other restrictions and risks that impede humanitarian work.

During the session, the head of the Hodeidah Agreement Support Mission, Major General Michael Berry, will present a brief report on the latest developments regarding the mission's work and the ongoing damage caused by landmines and explosive remnants of war.
