Dozens of vegetable vendors moved their shops to Jamal Street, downtown Taiz to protest the acts of thugs that were practiced by the armed gangs.

The move came after an upsurge in attacks and looting, and what sellers call "thugs" by armed groups in Taiz.

The protesters demanded the local authorities to allocate an official market and protect them from acts of thugs, and take legal action against arms' gangs.

Three attempts by the authorities in Taiz to privatize a market for vegetables' sellers failed for the last two years to allocate a space in a street.

However, armed gang disputes over the royalties and taxes of the market led to the transfer to Beer Basha area.
