Houthi's war, siege on Taiz cause killing of 180 teachers, closure of 470 schools

A government official in Taiz said that the war imposed by the Houthi militias on Taiz city has caused the closure of at least 470 schools out of a total of 1624 schools in 2015-2016.

The Education Office Deputy Director in the province Aref al-Samet to Newsyemen that 20 schools have been completely demolished by the war and more than 120 schools in the part of the liberated districts.

The Education Office said that 178 and more have been killed, about 4500 were injured, and 31 have been kidnapped and forcibly were hidden by the militias at the beginning of the second quarter of last year, according to al-Samet.

The Houthi's war and siege on Taiz have also caused dozens of teachers to displace, which also reduced teachers of at least 7,000 in the primary and secondary levels during 2017-2018.
