Gov. agrees to implement first phase of Redeployment process

The government of Hadi officially announced its approval of the first phase of redeployment process in al-Hodeida province.

This came during a meeting between the Foreign Minister the head of the government delegation at the Sweden's consultations Khalid al-Yamani, and UN envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

According to the official news agency, the meeting discussed the obstacles to the implementation of the Stockholm agreement more than three months after reaching the conclusion of the United Nations-sponsored consultations.

The foreign minister stressed the government's keenness and commitment to the implementation of the terms of the Stockholm agreement in order to make progress in building peace, warning at the same time that the intransigence and procrastination of the Houthi militias may lead to the failure of the agreement.

According to the agency, the UN envoy praised the position of the government and its approval to implement the first and second steps of the first phase of the "withdrawals from the ports of al-Hodeida, Saleef and Ras Issa.

According to the updated plan submitted by the head of the UN Monitoring Group Michael Lollesgaard on the implementation of the first phase of the Redeployment the withdrawal of the Houthi militias from the ports of Ras Issa and Saleef 5 kilometers towards the east, including demining.

The withdrawal must be checked and supervised by  a tripartite team of the United Nations, Government's and Houthi's representatives at the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC).
